DEFINITIONS
- MICROWELDING
- A welding process that involves placing the proper welding material at an exact location on a part while observing tolerances that are often measured in thousandths of an inch.
- WELD SINK
- A phenomenon to be avoided in which shrinkage occurs between the weld and the parent steel.
- THERMAL DISTORTION
- An undesired effect of welding in which the part being welded becomes warped.
- RESIDUAL STRESS
- Stress that remains in a part after welding because it was not properly re-tempered.
