Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):Where is ATW located? We are located in the heart of beautiful Western North Carolina in the town of Etowah. Our address is as follows: Do you have the ability to pick up and deliver work?Yes! We currently have a Dodge Sprinter van that is capable of handling up to 4,250 lbs. We are willing to drive for pick up or delivery within a 400 mile radius of the shop. If an emergency arises outside of the 400 mile radius, please call to discuss. How quick can I expect to get my parts back in my shop after welding? We strive to weld and ship parts back same day if necessary. Obviously, not every job is a one day project, but we commit to getting the parts done in a timely manner and returned as soon as possible. What is the largest size or weight of a part you could weld?We have the capability to weld tiny, hand held inserts up to parts weighing as much as 5,000 lbs. Do you machine or EDM parts after welding? We do not machine or EDM parts here in our shop, but we do have local vendors whom we have worked with for years to help us with machining or burning projects that arise. Do you have the capability to hand work parts after welding? We perform hand working here at ATW. If a job comes up that surpasses our means to perform here at the shop, we have local vendors with years of experience to help with hand working needs that arise. Do you adequately preheat and post heat parts that you weld on?Yes! We have an oven for smaller parts and a Grieve furnace for larger parts that we use to adequately preheat and post heat parts. We also have other options for odd shaped parts that might not fit in a conventional oven or furnace. Do you heat treat parts after welding?Yes! We have the capability to heat treat parts after welding using a Grieve furnace. If the part is too large for our furnace, we outsource the heat treating. Do you try to “color-match” parts you weld on?When we weld a customer’s part, we strive to use the exact filler material as the parent steel unless the customer does not know the parent steel or requests using a different material. In most cases, we use the latest heat treating specs on a certain material after welding to ensure a better color match in the steel to hide the weld. How do you ship parts back and forth from your shop?We use UPS in most cases to ship parts to and from the customer. We also use FedEx and many other freight companies for shipping depending on the size and weight of parts. We also provide pick up and delivery with our company van within a 400 mile radius of our shop. Do you weld pieces for “the general public”?In today’s ever changing economy, we now accept more “general public” work than ever before. |
